Children’s Dental Care

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) is an Australian Government initiative aimed at improving the oral health of children aged 2-17. The scheme gives eligible children access to $1000 every 2 calendar years to be spent on basic dental treatments, such as check ups, x-rays, fillings, root canals, extractions, and more!

Eligibility must be determined prior to accessing funding. It is determined each calendar year, with funds valid for 2 calendar years.

To be eligible for the CDBS, your child must:

be aged 2 to 17 years

receive, or be part of a family receiving, certain Australian Government payments

be eligible for Medicare on the day of service

Children’s Hygiene

At Eastern Creek SmileCo Dental, we believe in making your child’s visits to the dentist as stress and pain free as possible, in order to set them up for a lifetime of well maintained oral health. Most children will have all of their baby teeth by the time they reach 2-3 years of age. They should begin having check ups when they are between 18 and 24 months old to allow them to become familiar with the sights, sounds and smells of the practice.

Check ups in these early years are centred around identifying signs of early tooth decay, giving instructions and advice around teeth brushing, and advise of good eating habits for oral health. We aim to make all of our treatments for children as non-invasive as possible, in a bid to encourage them to embrace a trip to the dentist as part of their normal routine as they grow.
